陆雨棠1941年出生的保罗·西蒙，年近80，老当益壮，创作自由。

2000年发表的You’re the One专辑，豆瓣上虽仅有93人评价，平均7.5分，却一直是我最爱的西蒙专辑。除了主题歌You’re the One以外，这首Old，从三个自己的第一次开始唱起，第一次听Buddy Holly的歌Peggy Sue，第一次抽烟，第一次听Satisfaction时无业青年的状态，
经历世事变迁，步入老年，遭朋友起哄，廉颇老矣！
不服老。耶稣、佛陀、默罕默德、老子，那才叫老，

最早知道西蒙，是Simon & Garfunkel组合里的西蒙。The Sound of Silence，Bridge over Troubled Water，Scarborough Fair，动听的旋律，完美的和声。两人1968年发行的Bookends专辑中有一首名为America的歌，由西蒙作词作曲，写的是1964年夏天，西蒙和当时女友Kathy Chitty的一段旅行经历。歌中的“我”花了四天时间从密歇根Saginaw一路搭车到Pittsburgh与Kathy会合，两人坐灰狗巴士继续旅行，“去寻找美国”。一路有说有笑，猜同行乘客的身份，抽完上车前买的一包烟。月亮在空旷的田野上升起，公路上往来的汽车在奔波，“去寻找美国”。我对睡着的Kathy说，“Kathy，我迷路了”。我感到空虚和痛苦，却不知为何。

到了网络时代，才了解到西蒙的更多生平和更多作品。他的首张个人专辑The Paul Simon Songbook在1965年发行。

90年代买过一张西蒙个人专辑的CD，但当时并不知道这张1986年发行的专辑获得过格莱美年度专辑、一度帮助西蒙登上事业的高峰。只知道这张专辑的曲风与过去听的西蒙不同。融入了阿卡贝拉、布鲁斯、节奏布鲁斯、尤其是南非祖鲁根源音乐等多种音乐元素。

2016年，75岁的西蒙发行个人第13张专辑Stranger to Stranger。他唱起《百年酒馆》Horace and Pete，似乎在为自己一路的创作注解：
